Paperwork showed GD scheduled for this date, caught up in campus politics: "[campus politico] Spiwak had been telling students that the Grateful Dead, a rock group scheduled to appear last Thursday, had never been set to appear at all but were merely part of Gary Lillefjeld's campaign propaganda. Lillefjeld produced a letter from the group's manager testifying to the fact that they were set to appear and were canceled only after the Black Students Union scheduled a rally for the same day".
